Traveling with Friends 2013: Hong Kong Day 1
5:48 PM
It has always been a dream of mine to travel with friends. One day in May,
Abi sent me a message on Facebook asking if I want to go on a trip to
HongKong. I said yes, of course, because who doesn't? But I had to ask
permission first. The next day I asked my Mom and Dad and they instantly
agreed because I said I can take care of all the expenses myself (heh).
Little did my Dad know that my Mom gave me money to pay for the airfare
right away as the seat sale was about to end. Also, they took care of all my expenses eventually. Hahaha parents
The entire semester was a waiting game on its own because our flight was
scheduled 4 months later right in time for our semestral break. I
literally took my last test for the semester and head to meet my friends
and go to the airport right away. But, if anything, this trip felt more
of a motivation for me to strive harder rather than just a break after
all the stress.
Touchdown HongKong! We rode an A21 Bus right outside the airport to go to our hotel in Argyle st., Kowloon. We stayed at Mei Mei Hotel whose owners were a couple who knew little English so we basically had to do a lot of sign language upon arriving. At one point, we thought they were trying to drive us away but as it turns out they were just asking deposit money for us to get a key to our room.
Tita Lea treated us for lunch at Aberdeen Fishball and Noodles. She also kindly shopped some snacks for us (huhu Thanks Tita <3). Traveling without our parents can be a bit stressful sometimes because of the money constraints.
We took the train from Mong Kok to Causeway Bay. I love Hong Kong's subway system so much because even if it was my first time to ride in such, it didn't really felt like it since it is a tourist-friendly system.
We were getting tired so we decided that Forever21 would be our last stop before we head to Tsim Sha Tsui for the Symphony of Lights. But as soon as we saw five floors of sale goodness, everyone panicked!!! We really are all girls, after all.
It took us quite a lot of time to find where the Symphony of Lights is. The show was dragging and not impressing at all, so I suggest just get this off of your itinerary. I didn't get to appreciate the Stars at Avenue of the Stars since I was too tired already. And I wasn't really looking for a specific star, anyway.
We were all getting hungry and getting lost after getting off at the wrong station to Mong Kok didn't really help at all. In the end, we settled for cup noodles to eat the hotel since everyone was so tired already.
All in all, our first day was fun despite getting lost (which, I think, was also fun since it's really part of traveling). We went to bed early because next day will be spent entirely in Disneyland. Yaaay!
